Cote said that members of her family would go on to open countless businesses across the city, some of which residents might still recall. That includes a book that counts every individual entering the family and, by her count, she has nieces and nephews across the country.
Many of the children old enough to work took jobs in the booming mill industry around the city, Cote said. Joseph School until the eighth grade. After she finished high school at the former St. Inshe started her first teaching job at St. Francis School in Fitchburg, a position she held for nearly a decade.
The list includes 17 individuals who served in the Army, three in the Air Force, three in the Marines, 13 in the Navy, and 12 in the National Guard. Cote and most of her siblings took jobs at the bakery. More in News.

Cote said she was born in that apartment, which had just five rooms in total. Her parents had massive collections of family photos, which she inevitably inherited.

He is the little boy sitting down on the right. Putting together these living documents has been her passion, she said.
She started out making boxes and slicing bread when she was about 6 years old, she said. Both current and former Fitchburg residents should be familiar with the Cote name, as it was the same that hung over bakeries, convenience stores, shoe stores and more for decades.
She also spent a handful of years at St. Currently, Cote is working on a project to list the members of the family who have served in the military. At one point, she found herself with dozens of boxes containing photos and family documents.
Before she was born, her parents made the move from the Canadian province of Quebec to Fitchburg with, at the time, 13 children in tow. Cote was born in into a family of 16 children living in a first-floor apartment on Columbus Street.
Cote said she was proud of those in her family that served in the military, adding that they deserved to be recognized for their courage. To date, the document contains names of 51 individuals and their photos.
The old tintype photo was taken in and was a portrait of his family, she said. Inshe bought her first computer and began putting together the document.
